EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Covid - how to trans a lead Booker ticket?

I’ve tested positive on a lateral flow, well several tests, some positive, some negative, so have taken a PCR today but won’t get result till tomorrow earliest. Have bought my ticket, praying it’s negative but thinking it’s unlikely which I’m gutted about. How would I transfer this ticket if I can’t go? It would go to a extremely high capper who didn’t keep the semi ticket earlier in the year, so I have no issues on that front. Cheers.

PS just to clarify I have not upgraded yet, so on 40+ caps for the euros, not 12 as per my profile.

I believe that uefa have updated their rules on this. I can't seem to post the link but you'll find it by searching "unable to attend medical reasons"

Says on here Craig that you can transfer the ticket if you can’t go because of covid or other medical reasons: support.tickets-euro2020.uefa.com/.../360018832980-Can-I-change-ticket-holder-s-within-my-order-s-for-the-2021-tournament-

    Hope that helps

If you bought the ticket from UEFA you can transfer it to anyone you like. If you bought it through the ESTC sale you are stuck unless you give someone your phone with the ticket on it.

    In reply to Martin Parkes:

UEFA have indeed changed their rules to allow the lead booker's ticket to be reassigned if he is unable to attend for medical reasons. Unfortunately, they have given no guidance on how to do it. An event or circumstance giving rise to medical reasons is, almost by definition, going to happen without forewarning and very close to the match. So, it would be impracticable to expect people to email UEFA and await a sensible response.

The reply from UEFA given to Chris Brook in the link above offers a way out. I would just add another step so that your high capper friend can use his own phone.

    1. Do not log into the mobile phone ticket app. If you are already logged in, then log out. You log out by going to the screen with 'My Tickets', 'Transfer History', etc. At the top left, touch your email address. You may have to touch in a few places a few times to get exactly the right spot. There will then be a pop-up box where you can log out.

    2. Log into your UEFA ticketing account. At present, doing this takes you to the ticket buying screen with the access code box. In the top right of the screen, click your name. The next screen is a welcome screen : in the box on the right, click 'Profile'. In your profile, edit your phone number to the number of your friend, scroll to the bottom and click 'Save'.

    3. Get your friend to log into the mobile phone ticket app on his phone using your email address. This process will involve you receiving a 6-digit code number by email which you will need to pass to your friend. Get him to also enter your details on the personal details page. I hope you trust him enough for this.

    4. When UEFA sends the ticket, it should then arrive on his phone. Click 'Keep' and use the 'assign ticket to a new guest' option. Fill in his details as the new guest.

    5. When you are out of isolation remember to go to your Profile and change your phone number back.

I've never tried this myself but, logically, it ought to work. If it doesn't, then my name is Donald Duck and I have hacked Dave Lilley's account.

Does anyone know if ESTC would cancel my ticket if I buy one tomorrow? I have one in general sale that I ideally want to transfer to a mate. I only bought it because I was unsure if defo get one through the ESTC allocation

    In reply to Adam Walton:

Somebody on another thread put that question to Team England. He reported the reply that the ticket sourced through the ESTC would not be cancelled if the UEFA general public sale ticket had already been transferred out of his name.

I was quite surprised to see Team England say this.

It is actually in the UEFA ticketing T&Cs that a lead booker (or sole purchaser) cannot transfer his own ticket except on medical grounds and he may not transfer a guest ticket to anyone other than the guest named on the original application. This is in the T&Cs for both the FA sales channel and the general public sales channel.

Yet, as Christopher Granby has intimated above, general public sale tickets are transferred to anybody so routinely that most people are unaware that it's against the rules. UEFA does absolutely nothing to police and enforce their own rules. This is fine when there is a genuine transfer between two fans at face value. But this laxity by UEFA is a touts' charter. It is easier now to sell your ticket through eBay, Twitter or a secondary ticketing site at an outrageous price than it was in the days of paper tickets.

Has long has you trust the person get him to download the ticket App put your email address in and you will get a 6 digit code which you need to pass on to your friend to put into his App. When he has done that the ticket will automatically transfer to his App. Before you do that though you need to put his details in your ticket.

David\Jason, thanks for the replies which I think are the same approach effectively.

Is there any chance this would cause any issue for the final if we get there? My isolation ends on Sat so okay for the final atm and don’t want to jeopardise that.

PS - Jason, what do you mean by this bit:

“Before you do that though you need to put his details in your ticket.”

The ticket came out today so on my phone/app currently.

    Cheers.

I got an access code via ESTC now as I live abroad I can't travel due to covid restrictions. I could of bought a fans only ticket via that code for £85, does anyone know if the rules still apply if I bought a £195 cat 3 ticket??

Because of a positive covid test, we cannot use the two tickets for the England semi. Transferred my son's legitimately through the app to a friend, but husband, who is the lead booker, cannot transfer his or get a refund. We only want to do what is allowed through the club (though the amounts we have been offered for the ticket makes my eyes water!), but it is very frustrating (and not only because of the lost £200-odd) to have an unused ticket sitting here when so many ESTC members would like one. It seems from the replies on here that that is the only option, however. Emails from ESTC have not been responded to.

blogs: Sue Smith: England’s forward focus can rattle Uruguay

Before every tournament most people are guilty of thinking a bit higher of England than they probably should - me included, I thought we would beat Italy 2-0! But despite the result I think we must take lots of positives from the performance. It was great to see the players actually go for it in the match and I thought we were quite entertaining. Raheem Sterling was great - every time he got the ball he looked dangerous...

blogs: Adrian Bevington: The connection between England’s players and fans at a World Cup cannot be overestimated

Even now I can recall it perfectly. Lucio stumbled and miscontrolled when heading towards his own goal, and Michael Owen seized the moment. I knew at that point, in Shizuoka in 2002, that Michael would score. And I have to confess that at that moment I really did think we are going to win the World Cup. It is an emotion that takes over you, and although it didn’t turn out to be correct, one of the great pleasures...
