EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

"Assign ticket for a new guest" as opposed to "Transfer"

I managed 1 x ticket which I hoped to transfer to my son.

At first I thought this was not possible, as the ticket states "Non transferable.  One ticket must be kept for yourself"

However, when I clicked on "Keep" I got an option to "Assign ticket to a new guest".  Once done this now displays that "Ticket kept for Archie Brook".

Now what do I do?  There is no option to enter his email address and transfer in the way shown on this video: https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/ticketing/mobile-tickets-app/

I guess I'll have to let him take my phone for the day.

Unless anyone can point me to a way of getting the kept ticket on my lad's phone.

Chris, UEFA has pages and pages of rules in their ticketing T&Cs. When we buy tickets we all tick that we have read and accepted the rules but nobody ever does read them. I'm not going to try to give any rationale for these rules but just tell you what the relevant ones are for your situation.

A ticket applicant can buy up to 4 tickets per match, 1 for himself and 3 for named guests. He must reserve and use 1 of the tickets himself. If he only applies for 1 ticket then it must be for himself and is not transferable. He cannot buy tickets only for guests.

The tickets are delivered via a mobile phone app to the phone of the applicant. Within the app there are 'Keep' and 'Transfer' options. The applicant must keep his own ticket on his phone for himself. The guest tickets are transferred to the phones of the guests through the app. However, in some circumstances, it is permissible for a guest ticket to remain on the applicant's phone and this is when you click 'Keep' and use the 'Assign ticket to a new guest' option.

By buying only 1 ticket and passing it to your son, you are breaking the ticketing T&Cs. This is why you can't discover a way to transfer the ticket to your son's phone.

If you give your phone to your son for the day then you may get away with it. The stewards won't ask your son to show ID unless they get suspicious. However, note that he will also have to show the result of a negative lateral flow test (rapid antigen test) on your phone.

You don't say how old your son is. If he is under 16 then the UEFA Euro 2020 stadium rules say that he can only enter the stadium with an adult who is responsible for him and who is also a ticket holder. If he looks borderline young then they may ask him for ID and find that he is trying to enter the stadium on your ticket.

If your son is 18 or over, what you should have done is to enter the UEFA ticket portal in his name, and apply for the ticket in his name entering his personal details. You could still have paid for the transaction using your payment card.

Thanks David. Really appreciate your detailed reply. My son is 18.
What still puzzles me, is if I am breaking the T&C's why can I assign the ticket for Archie Brook on my phone? Any ideas?

Had a reply from UEFA. In a nutshell, my son can get in with the ticket on MY phone. Not ideal, but with no refund option, this is as good as I could expect...

According to the rules established by PNA your ticket is non-transferable. In case that the ticket is assign to Archie Brook, we would like to confirm that he will be able to enter the stadium.

Brilliant news Chris …. There are 2 checks to enter first one is covid results (so he could use his phone or give your number when he sends test result to nhs who then text and e mail confirmation of result ) then you go to another steward for ticket check which the steward will scan
