UEFA EURO 2020

Moan about entry time slots

We have known for some time that there would be 30 minute stadium entry time slots and the reasons are justifiable. But I was shocked to see that the earliest time slot is 3 to 2.5 hours before kick off. Let's give the time slots some scores.

1  =  1 to 0.5 hours before kick off
2  =  1.5 to 1 hours before kick off
3  =  2 to 1.5 hours before kick off
4  =  2.5 to 2 hours before kick off
5  =  3 to 2.5 hours before kick off

On that basis, my score is 5 + 5 + 3  =  13

Couldn't they have spread the misery a little more evenly ? I have to spend 8 hours behind the wheel for a round trip to Wembley fixtures which makes it a long day. I don't welcome having the day made hours longer. It's particularly annoying to have been given the earliest time slot for the Croatia match which kicks off at 2:00 pm. I'll need to leave the house at a time when I'm usually still in the Land of Nod, only to have to sit on a plastic seat twiddling my thumbs for longer than it takes to fly to the Med.

The group matches only have 25% crowds. What will happen for the semi-finals and final when it is confidently expected that 50% crowds will be allowed ? Will some fans by instructed to arrive 6 hours early ? Of course not because the stadium only opens 3 hours before the match. It will be the same time slots as above. If 5 time slots are enough for a 50% crowd then you don't need more than 3 time slots for a 25% crowd.

I call upon the Wembley stadium authorities to immediately issue a statement saying that, for any fixture with a 25% crowd :

Fans allocated the entry time slot 3 - 2.5 hours before kick off may enter in the 2 - 1.5 hours time slot
Fans allocated the entry time slot 2.5 - 2 hours before kick off may enter in the 1.5 - 1 hours time slot

    My score is a perfect 15.

    Absolutely no chance of me making my time for the Croatia game (11:00 - 11:30) as my train doesn’t get into Kings Cross until 12:11.

    Can’t see how they can stop you turning up whenever you want. If you have a valid ticket, you should be allowed entry regardless of what time you arrive.

    I know we're all chuffed to bits to be there but....

    What's worse is there is no beer and in 'the stadium powered by EE' I struggle to get any signal on my EE phone at all.

    Am assuming there will be no power packs allowed entry either so potentially a flat phone!

    Up to three hours is just crackers.

    I’ve worked multiple events since the most recent easing of restrictions. Most organisers have attempted, reasonably it has to be said, to stagger ingress through allocated time slots. I cannot think of a single example of where this has genuinely worked well, or where ticket holders have been turned away for turning up late (though I can think of examples where ticket holders have been turned away and asked to come back later if they’ve arrived early).

    The last thing anyone working on the front line - and surely those above - would want is an unnecessary confrontation point. Providing most are sensible, arrive in plenty of time (in the COVID context!) and don’t turn up half cut 15 minutes before KO expecting to waltz through I am hoping all will be OK.

    However, nothing surprises me any more. With UEFA receiving some negative publicity recently following positive tests of fans attending the CL final reportedly resulting in plane loads of fans being told to self-isolate…

    The guidance on time slots says they "strongly recommend "....I'm sure they expect slippage on the times...but then again,lets not all leave it too late either.
    It won't take much to cause chaos at the turnstiles.

    Only just seen this and had no idea they were operating this, so my sensible question is where do I find my exit slot time or can you only catch covid on the way into Wembley?

    …. And that’s not even getting onto the presumption that the tube and other public transport links won’t be using a similar system! Rendering it pointless

    where do I find my exit slot time

    With 2 of the matches finishing around 10 pm, a quick getaway would see me arriving home around 2 am. There had better not be exit time slots otherwise I'm just going to trample the steward into the ground.

    5 + 3 + 5 = 13

    Seems like everyone has the same time slot and therefore the crowd will all arrive at the same time. This really doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

    On the UEFA 2020 app they advise a small power pack is included (matchday checklist) so hopefully this will be OK as im likley to need one
