I'm keeping my tickets and I'm still hoping for a full Wembley (maybe without away fans).
    Reasons are:
All vulnerable people will have been vaccinated in UK.
It's in the summer so transmission is low and the NHS shouldn't be under pressure.
There are measures that can be put in place to limit spread. E.g nasal sparys, masks, temperature checks etc.
Maybe a limited capacity is more realistic but I can't see an argument for playing behind closed doors.

Wembley use a company for all the stewarding, yet FA are advertising for an unspecified number of ‘stadium access staff’ for match days,I could just be putting 2+2 together, but this sounds like a contingency to provide some sort of extra layer covid related function!

While I do agree with what you saying the UK will be in a much better place come the summer but will the rest of Europe?
I believe it will be held in 1 county but I’m not overly convinced it will be here. Can you imagine the outcry from the press and MP’s if the government made a bid to host it and then there was another surge. “It will be all this, why did we invite so many other teams, press and back room staff not to mention fans no mater how limited”
Look at the outcry when 2.5k Madrid fans was it were at Liverpool for a CL tie.

I don't think it'll be in one country. Although it makes sense from a safety perspective, it would be a minefield for UEFA if they took it from a country against their will.
There may though be a few countries no longer willing to host it.
I can see Johnson hyping up this tournament. It's the boost the country needs and, with him being an optimist, I think he'll take the risk.

I believe all teams, back room staff and dignitaries will have been vaccinated prior to the tournament, the probability will be that mass transit by plane will be severely curtailed eliminating the Liverpool scenario, the chances are we’re already past the peak of this virus,as cases have started to drop, the fly in the ointment is if one of the other strains supersedes this Kent one!
The likelyhood is the change of weather, increase of warmth and sunlight will have a major effect of suppressing the virus,as it did last year,in the meantime vaccinations continue to happen at pace!
Due to the multi cultural metropolitan mix of our cities, all countries would have a fan base within the UK,were it to be exclusively played here, ensuring a decent atmosphere whatever the % of fans attending,we’re miles ahead of the rest of Europe with vaccinations, and we’ve peaked in virus cases before many of them,it remains to be seen how quickly we can get cases/deaths to fall by late February, that the next snapshot to appraise the Europe wide situation, and for UEFA to peruse all the nations responses of their contingency planning!
It will be all about data, trends and the ability of nations response and contingency management,Wembley,London and UK are in pole position if it goes to 1 country, the stadia, hotels and travel infrastructure is all in place!

Sticking. A chance to have a full home tournament methinks. Perhaps other fans flying in have to have a negative test in hand. Won’t be the huge amounts anyway. That’s my dream!

    In reply to Richard Charlesworth:

Uefa chiefs are pushing ahead with plans to hold the climax of Euro 2020 at Wembley Stadium after being reassured by the scale of the UK’s Covid-19 vaccination programme.

Wembley is scheduled to host both semi-finals and the final of the delayed tournament, as well as England’s three group games — including against Scotland — and a round-of-16 match.

The FA has until February to give Uefa its Plan A and a Plan B about the number of fans it expects to be allowed into the stadium by the government.

It is understood that the scale of the vaccination programme in Britain has given Uefa huge confidence that the climax its major tournament can go ahead with
significant numbers of supporters in attendances.

It is hoped that the FA will confirm it expects at least 30,000 fans to be allowed into the stadium, a third of the 90,000 capacity, and potentially significantly more — even the possibility of a full stadium.

Another encouraging factor for Uefa is that Wembley has 17,000 hospitality seats in its Club Wembley area which is a major revenue consideration even if social distancing has to remain in place.

Britain is some way ahead of the rest of Europe in terms of its vaccination program with more than 3.8 million having received the jabs already and a target of 15 million by mid-February.

Euro 2020 is being staged in 12 different countries across Europe, including Scotland and the Republic of Ireland, and as things stand Uefa is working on the basis of all the 12 cities remaining as host venues.

However each country will be asked to confirm its plan for supporters next month, and it may be that some — particularly those who have not qualified for the finals — may pull out. If that is the case then England and Scotland may be asked to host more matches.

Last year, FA leaders opened talks with Uefa about stepping in to host the whole Euro 2020 if necessary, but that was only considered a possibility if the entire tournament was to be played behind closed doors and that appears far less likely now.

The only possible issue is if the vaccination programme is derailed by a new variant of the virus that is not affected by the vaccine.

I'm reasonably optimistic that there will be at least some limited attendance allowed by June/July so will keep hold at the moment.

Just considering whether to cash in my Munich & Bucharest tickets as I'm less convinced that there'll be much international travel back on track by then.

blogs: Tim Vickery: A World Cup in every sense

Two World Cup Finals are being replayed in this week’s 2014 semi finals. The Germans seek revenge for their 2-0 defeat in 2002 when they meet Brazil – amazingly only the second time these giants have ever met in the tournament. And Holland were the closest – so far – a European team has ever come to winning the World Cup in South America when they hit the post with almost the last kick of normal...

blogs: Sue Smith: England can bounce back

There’s no doubt England can bounce back – the women’s team did it after the 2007 World Cup by going all the way in Euro 2009. Although we lost against Germany in the final of those Euros, there was a sense of achievement and progress...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Cool-hand Luke can handle price-tag

Having a hefty price tag can weight heavy on your shoulders – it certainly did for me when I moved back to Chelsea in 1997 for £5.5m. At the time I was the most expensive English defender and there was a lot of pressure that came with that. I found it quite hard and Luke Shaw now finds himself in a similar position after moving to Manchester United for £30m. It does make you look at things differently...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: It’s time to give England’s players a break

There’s no doubt England’s players will be disappointed with the way things panned out in Brazil, but they deserve a break after the mentally exhausting season they have all had. They’ll feel like they are coming home prematurely because going into these tournaments you always think that you’re good enough to progress, so to lose their first two games and be out of the World Cup this early will...

blogs: John Hemmingham: Fresh faces give us cause for hope

In my years following England I’ve seen some great players come and go – and teams rise and fall. I can say with pride that I saw every game David Beckham played for England and I have also been privileged enough to have seen all of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard’s appearances. Watching the Costa Rica match it was hard to think that it might be both of their final appearances. I remember Gerrard...
