EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Reimburse the money asap for the euros tickets

Just read that UEFA intends to keep the money and tickets till next year. Not an option in my book. Yes I would still love to go next year with the family all the way to the final with England  … but no idea whether I will have the funds available given the nightmare few months ahead. Big work worries as I'm sure there are for many of us.  They should reimburse now and review next year based on caps as before. we cannot make decisions now on such a lot of money.. we should be given the option to re-apply when we have got through the next few months and hopefully have some money left. Regardless of your view, best wishes to everyone getting through this mess

Completely agree Marcus, why should UEFA be making money on what should be our interest.

The ESTC info states that refunds will be available from UEFA if you want one. Details to follow. I'm sure once they get their heads around the situation the refund option will be publicised further.

I must admit I think I would be more happy to have my money back, put it in my ISA then hopefully have the option to re-apply for next year.
For all we know the Euros next year may not even happen and if it does it may be significantly different from the format now (in terms of host countries).

If you know you are going to go in 2021, why bother with the hassle of refunding the money, only for a few months later for tickets to be re-allocated and then them take it again. I’d prefer they keep mine, it’s far easier that way. In my mind that money has been spent and is gone.

If you aren’t going to go in 2021, then of course a refund should be processed promptly.

    In reply to Carl Padley:

I'd bet it's the full application or nothing on the cancellation.

Therefore I'd expect some interesting conversations are currently happening within groups where some members want the cash back and others don't.

Interest rates in the Eurozone are largely zero or even negative so UEFA won't exactly be making millions from that route.

Our group are keeping hold of ours.

    Hi Daniel,

I really want to go next year too, but UEFA are sitting on £2000 for my tickets based on the england boys going all the way. I run a small business I just don't know whether I can afford to leave this money here given the present effects on economy, and think it would be fairer to return the money now and re-assess next year, based on caps etc.when we know whether we can afford it. I can see if you only have a few tickets its not significant though.

    In reply to Daniel Armstrong:

Agree with this TBH. Fully intending to go to the games next year so would rather not go through another bloody ballot.

Obviously, I'd agree that anyone who wants/needs a refund because of the change of dates should be allowed to get it but don't think it should be a sweeping across the board decision.

Dan doesn’t have to worry about that , he caught a high ranking member of the FA in a brothel in Kazakhstan and has been getting them free ever since

Just got this in a email .

What do they mean by tickets and packages refunded?

Surely they don’t mean flights and hotels ?

UEFA would like to reassure existing ticket buyers that if they cannot attend the tournament in 2021, the face value of their tickets and packages will be refunded in full. Within the next month, further information on the refund process will be communicated to existing ticket buyers via email and on

What do they mean by tickets and packages refunded?

They're referring to the official hospitality packages : executive boxes, caviar sandwiches, etc.

I reckon they will offer to refund all tickets that you have paid for, or none of them.
I did think a good idea would be to re-open the uefa ticket reselling website , so people could try and sell part of their allocation , and keep others that they want. But that wouldnt apply to the tickets bought thru the England Travel Club.

I’ve paid for all the tickets and find myself in a quandary!
I’ve been made unemployed as a direct result of the Corona Virus,as self employed I get no severance/redundancy pay so its a matter of now living from day-to-day and money is beyond tight!
I’m clearly not alone, many fellow England fans will be just as affected if not more so!

I would welcome the possibility of a refund and be given the chance to repurchase my tickets at an arbitrary date in the future, this should be available to everyone, say 31st January 2021!

I would like to think this would meet no objection, give refunds to all who want them and allow those who wish to attend 2021 the opportunity to repurchase their own tickets!

This makes sense, people need that bit of money, benefits are taking 5 weeks to process by DWP and Boris Johnson hasn’t initiated any direct help to many sectors including self employed, sole traders, gig economy workers!
I urge ESTC to seriously consider putting this to UEFA as a matter of urgency with the refund window soon upon us!

blogs: Tim Vickery: A World Cup in every sense

Two World Cup Finals are being replayed in this week’s 2014 semi finals. The Germans seek revenge for their 2-0 defeat in 2002 when they meet Brazil – amazingly only the second time these giants have ever met in the tournament. And Holland were the closest – so far – a European team has ever come to winning the World Cup in South America when they hit the post with almost the last kick of normal...

blogs: Sue Smith: England can bounce back

There’s no doubt England can bounce back – the women’s team did it after the 2007 World Cup by going all the way in Euro 2009. Although we lost against Germany in the final of those Euros, there was a sense of achievement and progress...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Cool-hand Luke can handle price-tag

Having a hefty price tag can weight heavy on your shoulders – it certainly did for me when I moved back to Chelsea in 1997 for £5.5m. At the time I was the most expensive English defender and there was a lot of pressure that came with that. I found it quite hard and Luke Shaw now finds himself in a similar position after moving to Manchester United for £30m. It does make you look at things differently...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: It’s time to give England’s players a break

There’s no doubt England’s players will be disappointed with the way things panned out in Brazil, but they deserve a break after the mentally exhausting season they have all had. They’ll feel like they are coming home prematurely because going into these tournaments you always think that you’re good enough to progress, so to lose their first two games and be out of the World Cup this early will...

blogs: John Hemmingham: Fresh faces give us cause for hope

In my years following England I’ve seen some great players come and go – and teams rise and fall. I can say with pride that I saw every game David Beckham played for England and I have also been privileged enough to have seen all of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard’s appearances. Watching the Costa Rica match it was hard to think that it might be both of their final appearances. I remember Gerrard...
