We booked flights with flexible tickets a while ago and they are already a lot more expensive now. May be better to book while they are still affordable, and get vouchers if you have to cancel. Hotels are the opposite - they are coming down in price because nobody much is travelling.

This is the latest advice on the gov site.

If this is the case for F1 then we should be OK to travel.

    www.gov.uk/.../entry-requirements

    Sporting events
Foreign ticket holders attending 30 July - 1 August, Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix and 21-22 August FIA World Touring Car Cup are only required to present a negative PCR test result, taken within 72 hours prior to arrival.

Foreign nationals attending these events are also granted the same rights at hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues as holders of Immunity Certificates by presenting their event tickets.

Hungary had capacity crowds for their home games during the Euro's, which bodes well.

But they might want to create a more hostile environment for our players by letting only their fans in next month.

Let's hope Viktor wants to play the genial host & comes up trumps with a 7k allocation............ :-)

For your first away game you've picked a very difficult gig. Don't make any arrangements until certain things become clearer.

#1 We don't yet know whether the FA will get an allocation of tickets for this match. If we do get tickets but there are not enough for everybody then the tickets will be distributed using the 70%/30% rule. You and your son might be unlucky and not get tickets in the ballot.

#2 At present, the general rule is that UK nationals cannot enter Hungary by air. However, we are allowed to enter through a land border.

#3 Those with tickets to the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix were allowed in by air provided they had a negative PCR test in the previous 72 hours. The same will apply for the FIA World Touring Car event later this month. We don't know whether there will be a similar exemption for our football match.

#4 Before returning to the UK you will need to do a negative covid-19 test in Hungary. On arrival back in the UK you must undertake a PCR test on or before day 2. If you are not double jabbed you must also go into quarantine at home for 10 days and take another PCR test on or after day 8.

    Hi David,
Going to be very difficult to organise a a negative covid test in Hungary if you are (if allowed) flying in the day before the match and out again the day after.
How would a company like Sports Ops get on when they basically do a fly in-fly out trip?

    In reply to Philip Hackett:

The requirement is that you return a negative covid-19 test in the 72 hours before you travel to England. If you're doing a quick in and out trip then a test taken before you leave England might still be within the 72 hours.

Can the test be a LFT, if so you can take one with you.

    In reply to Paddy Buckley:

The test can be LFT but it must be administered by a private test provider. This generally means that the private test provider carries out the test on you. But I've read somewhere that some providers may allow you to do the test yourself whilst they watch the procedure on zoom or some other similar video system. In this instance, I suspect you would be required to use their testing kit collected prior to your outward flight. I doubt whether an NHS rapid antigen test would be acceptable. It is the private test provider which gives you the document, text or email which confirms that you have complied with the testing requirement.

    In reply to David Lilley:

Yes this is correct. Some private providers post out your LFT prior to your departure for you to take with you, then you take the test on a pre agreed video call so they check you do the test correctly, then provide you with valid documents.

    www.livingcare.co.uk/pre-departure-lateral-flow-test-for-travel

That's the best one I can find at the moment - £25.00

You don't even do a video call on this one, you take the lateral flow and send the result next to a picture of your passport and they email you with the certification you need to fly.

They are a reputable company and we used them coming back from Majorca last month with 0 problems.
