EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Newbies going tonight - Fully vaccinated word of warning about NHS app

I note the NHS app has changed and there is now a different screen image with the QR which says "Valid in England" and you no longer enter "Euros".

I strongly advise taking a screenshot of your NHS COVID Pass. If you approach from Wembley Park tube along Olympic Way then you'll need this on the first check, which is just after co-op and across the road before you go up the steps.

Against Germany an hour before kick-off many had problems accessing the NHS app and there was a big queue forming as people failed to access.

The glance I have received so far for every game means a screenshot is fine for that first check. The second check is shortly afterwards and you must have your Euro2020 Tickets App open displaying your ticket and bluetooth ON. The steward will use a pen and the screen will go green if successful. Never had to show ID yet, but if you have ticket issues you might need ID.

Entering the stadium is even easier after those two first checks. Ticket on phone into the gate slot and then the usual body checks. Wear a mask going through security. So far once on the concourse only a very few people wear a mask.

Entry slots are advice only, though you are unlikely to be allowed into the stadium earlier than the time slot on your ticket.

Hope that helps someone!

Now let's do this tonight!

The app changed sometime between the Croatia and Scotland game. The app update included the "Event Trials" and "Travel" QR code but I have not been asked for this. I scroll down to my Covid Records (all the tests and the record of vaccination) and show them that. I've never had a problem, but I do normally open the app before arriving at the first check, to avoid 4g not-spots.

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Youth or experience for second Miami test?

The game against Honduras tonight is the final chance for a player to stake their claim for that World Cup opener against Italy next Saturday, and warm-up matches are key - just look at Michael Owen at France 98. The build-up to this tournament and that one 16 years ago is similar in many ways because there was a lot of experience in that England squad that I played in, and Michael really burst onto the scene. It was...

blogs: David Stone: Marvellous Miami is just like I pictured it

I've been to the US a few times before, but Miami really lives up to every cultural stereotype you can think of. It's big, bright and brash, not to mention full of hordes of identically-dressed, beautiful people. I’ve been to watch the Miami Marlins, the city's baseball team, in a local derby against the Tampa Bay Rays. While the stadium itself was two-thirds empty, the dozen or so England fans there...

blogs: Tim Vickery: Honduras and Professor Suarez lie in wait for Hodgson's hopefuls

The fitness of the Uruguay striker permitting, England have a date with Luis Suarez on 19 June. First, though, comes an encounter with his namesake on Saturday. Honduras are coached by Luis Fernando Suarez – a man who England fans have cause to...

blogs: Sue Smith: Striking a balance is key during a World Cup

Building up to a major international tournament is strange because you’ve spent so long preparing and then all of a sudden you’re playing in a World Cup – you don’t even think about it you just do your job. I would like to think...

blogs: Marios Papaloizou: Football’s friendly fire is my favourite time of year

Somewhere in-between the nerve-racking qualifying campaigns and the unbearable tension that surrounds a major tournament there occasionally lies a perfect storm of happy sentiment that surrounds the England team. Whether it's Peter Crouch's robot...
