EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Always some idiots

First a great atmosphere tonight and my throat is killing me already but… sadly I had to pop to the shop near Wembley arena to get a drink for the drive home (Sainsbury’s I think) and I was shocked and pissed off that a very small group of so called England fans!!!

They grabbed a group of German flags off some fans walking by… some where off women, They then snapped the sticks, spat on the flags and then tore the flags apart before putting them in the bin!!

I informed a police officer as I walked by one so hopefully got caught in the act! But this was shocking to see!!

It’s always a small few that give us fans a bad name!! But this is shocking.

I must admit I was a little apprehensive about the atmosphere going into it, but other than reading this, thought it was all good natured.

It's very possible these idiots weren't in the ground.

We saw thousands pouring towards Wembley as we were leaving.

These sound like just the type of belters we all avoid in day to day life. Them putting on an England shirt twice every two years makes them as much as a supporter as me putting on a wig and saying I'm a judge IMO.

Same here. There was a lengthy discussion on TalkSPORT, this morning, the general feeling being the constant booing of our opponents national anthems doesn’t make us look good. Four games played, four times we’ve booed our opponents national anthem.

I wonder if the Ukrainian national anthem will be booed in Rome on Saturday night, given the usual England support will be, or should be, absent?

    In reply to Garford Beck:

I thought the Croatian and Czech anthems were generally well respected. A few boos but mainly quiet and a large number of people clapped at the end as well.
Scotland was booed quite loudly an Germany the other day was ridiculous. We'd sort of moved on from that over the years. I remember the Germany v England game in S. Africa the England fans were pretty good with the anthem that day.

In the various friendlies since its been decent as well but obviously much less at stake with friendlies.

On Tuesday there was noticeably a large number of people who were quite visibly drunk, which is fine. I drink and an occasion like that will always encourage people to go overboard I suppose.
But that till doesn't excuse the vitriol some were poring out on Tuesday.

I was having a pee in the ground before the game and one particular blob stood near me was bellowing at the top of his lungs about the war whilst relieving himself. I felt embarrassed on his behalf.

I'm not sure what the answer is. I'm hoping that if (when please) we beat Ukraine on Saturday and when we return to Wembley, the lack of Germany being our opponents will mean a bit more respect for whoever we play next......prior to stuffing them on the pitch and going on to the Final :-)
