EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Why are the FA allowing UEFA to sell England v Germany tickets when not all England Fans members have a ticket?

Defeats the object of being a member when you can just logon and buy a ticket.

UEFA have more tickets than the FA, with our allocation being 16% I believe. This is a UEFA competition so they control the tickets so its not really about FA allowing UEFA to do it. I was a bit perplexed on Wednesday when no information had been provided to ESTC but tickets were already on sale by UEFA but put this down to them blindsiding them maybe?

Surely all members without a ticket could have been given one of those access codes so that they had some priority over the general public. Would not have been that hard to do as they are dishing out access codes for other selling windows.

This probably will sound harsh but...

Its not about 'The FA allowing'.

    It's UEFAs tournament.

Their rules. And the same rules that have been in place for tournament after tournament.

As Oli states they've abided by their rules in ring fencing our association circa 16%.

It's probably much easier and quicker to sell the remainder direct to the general public rather than go through the third party (our FA)

Lots of ESTC members seem to have been fortunate in buying in the various swathes of GP sales. In affect freeing up ESTC tickets for the lower capper members like yourself.

I bet the ESTC team are still trying to get more too as they've done in every game so far.

The FA aren't allowing UEFA to sell anything, it's the other way around. It's a UEFA competition, they allow the FA an allocation to sell. What they do with the rest is entirely up to them.

For some reason not everybody agrees with us as you will see by the comments on this thread. As far as I am concerned England Fans Members should always have priority over non Members. Otherwise there is no point in being a member.

I don’t think the FA did enough to protect the members in this respect

The ESTC did a cracking job in protecting the travel club members IMO.

They managed to get an allocation which meant all those who originally committed to attending the L16 (in any of the venues it could have taken place) were guaranteed a ticket.

They then guaranteed everyone over 6 caps who originally applied, but were unsuccessful, a ticket.

And.then further still had over a 1k tickets to give to those members under 7caps who'd originally applied.

Lots of those who didn't apply for this match (you must have been one of these) have picked up tickets in the UEFA general sales.

This is probably a good avenue for you to explore and maybe still time?

    Good luck.

We need to remember that, when Euro 2020 was first planned, London wasn't allocated any group matches. Brussels was on the original roster of host cities and would have got 3 group matches and a R16 but this was contingent on them building a new stadium. When it became clear that the new stadium wasn't going to happen because of wrangles over regulations and financial issues, UEFA needed to allocate those matches elsewhere. It is because of the powers of persuasion of the FA that Brussels' package of matches went to London ahead of other cities which tried to get them. If it had not been for the FA, we would have been playing our group matches scattered all over Europe and the majority of England fans would have missed out.

When Dublin was removed from the roster because their government would not allow fans into stadiums, their group matches were transferred to St Petersburg. It is because of the powers of persuasion of the FA that UEFA agreed to give the R16 match to London.

As others have said, it is UEFA who decides how many tickets will be allocated to the FA for sale to ESTC members. For all 3 group matches, the FA lobbied UEFA for more tickets and managed to get several hundred extra tickets per match over and above our allotted allocation.

As you can see, the FA has done a tremendous amount to enable England fans to watch their team in this tournament. I don't honestly see how they could have done more.
