UEFA EURO 2020

Since there is no cat4 is that classed as cat3 now? Just trying to decide to where to sit cat3 or cat2. I want to be bottom behind the goal but I guess we could end up in the gods?

    In reply to Andrew McCarthy:

Yeah I got lucky for the Croatia game but have been up in the gods for the last two. Not a bad view up there but am used to being behind the goal on the lower level and up there just feels a bit distanced. Wouldn’t choose it but like you say it’s entirely luck as who gets assigned what.

And again for Germany. Been pretty much the same gate and block throughout since Croatia.

Have a cat1 ticket and I’m in block 104 and a friend also has cat1 and is in Block 503. These don’t sound like cat1 tickets. Any thoughts?

It’s almost always like that. Think they reserves the blocks near the halfway line for VIPS etc.

I have always gone for cat 1 tickets as you get a better chance, but I always get one that is right next to the corner (104) this time never get near halfway line every cat 1 ticket I had for France 2016 was right next to corner it’s annoying you pay a lot more than someone 5 metres away

John can I ask at what point in the sale window you bought your ticket? I’m wondering if being in early just means I get shoved up at the top as me and a mate have been up there for almost every game, another mate has been there for all 4 but yet another regular has had lower tier throughout.

Within first hour pal and my sons are both in block 109. I had Cat 3 for Croatia in block 109 so was well happy. I assumed all Cat 3 wud be block 500s but for 50 euros i would accept that and use rest of money for trains/beer etc.

    Croatia 115
    Scotland 107
    Czech Republic 107
    Germany 109

All on Cat 3. No complaints from me hopefully the same for Semi and Final

blogs: Tim Vickery: A World Cup in every sense

Two World Cup Finals are being replayed in this week’s 2014 semi finals. The Germans seek revenge for their 2-0 defeat in 2002 when they meet Brazil – amazingly only the second time these giants have ever met in the tournament. And Holland were the closest – so far – a European team has ever come to winning the World Cup in South America when they hit the post with almost the last kick of normal...

blogs: Sue Smith: England can bounce back

There’s no doubt England can bounce back – the women’s team did it after the 2007 World Cup by going all the way in Euro 2009. Although we lost against Germany in the final of those Euros, there was a sense of achievement and progress...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Cool-hand Luke can handle price-tag

Having a hefty price tag can weight heavy on your shoulders – it certainly did for me when I moved back to Chelsea in 1997 for £5.5m. At the time I was the most expensive English defender and there was a lot of pressure that came with that. I found it quite hard and Luke Shaw now finds himself in a similar position after moving to Manchester United for £30m. It does make you look at things differently...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: It’s time to give England’s players a break

There’s no doubt England’s players will be disappointed with the way things panned out in Brazil, but they deserve a break after the mentally exhausting season they have all had. They’ll feel like they are coming home prematurely because going into these tournaments you always think that you’re good enough to progress, so to lose their first two games and be out of the World Cup this early will...

blogs: John Hemmingham: Fresh faces give us cause for hope

In my years following England I’ve seen some great players come and go – and teams rise and fall. I can say with pride that I saw every game David Beckham played for England and I have also been privileged enough to have seen all of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard’s appearances. Watching the Costa Rica match it was hard to think that it might be both of their final appearances. I remember Gerrard...
