Is it the portal or individuals internet connection? I know some on WiFi that struggled so I hard wired my laptop into the router and had no problem at all getting a ticket, process was quick and smooth. Maybe a combination of portal traffic and a requirement to have a stable internet connection?

    In reply to Peter Capel:

I think it is the portal. My daughter secured a ticket at the same time as I secured a ticket in the same house, she managed to pay for hers and mine ran down for 10 minutes and then crashed. My daughter won't go on her own, so absolutely gutted that I have just paid 125 euros for a CAT 2 ticket! My family had tickets to all three group games at Wembley and now we can't even get just two tickets. I have spoken to the ESTC and I have to say they were brilliant on the phone. It's not their fault, although the way the ballot was conducted allowing far too many people access to so few tickets was poor, so it looks like I have just wasted a fair bit of money. Like some others have said, I think I would have rather had an unsuccessful email instead of getting my hopes up to go. To think we travel from Cornwall for all the England games and also travelled to Middlesborough a couple of weeks ago, it does leave a sour taste, unfortunately.

Appreciate it may not be possible but I have the same problem. My mate got his and I couldn’t. If you want to sell your ticket would happily take it off your hands if you can transfer.

Thanks James. I am waiting on the ESTC to contact me back, so won't be transferring a ticket just yet. I live in hope that another may come available.

Just trying again whilst eating a bite of lunch, just on the off chance (as no official notice yet from ESTC or in portal that it's totally sold out) - no luck but the website crawled to a halt again at about 1pm - guessing the Scots are now being offered a bunch of tickets for their last match.....
......can somebody please remember to feed those poor little hamsters running themselves into the ground in the basement of the UEFA IT department in Switzerland, doing their best to keep this portal running like it's still1998!

I have been attending england games since 1977 first game against holland. Over 150 games and despite being allocated a ticket I failed to do so due to wedsite. Absolutely appalling. England you have lost me. I have supported this team through thin and thin. I am very disappointed.

After a few beers I am even more angry than I was before. I waited for 2 hours thinking we might go early due to previous expecerience. Now I find out I lose out due to a website issue. Disgusting.

blogs: Tim Vickery: A World Cup in every sense

Two World Cup Finals are being replayed in this week’s 2014 semi finals. The Germans seek revenge for their 2-0 defeat in 2002 when they meet Brazil – amazingly only the second time these giants have ever met in the tournament. And Holland were the closest – so far – a European team has ever come to winning the World Cup in South America when they hit the post with almost the last kick of normal...

blogs: Sue Smith: England can bounce back

There’s no doubt England can bounce back – the women’s team did it after the 2007 World Cup by going all the way in Euro 2009. Although we lost against Germany in the final of those Euros, there was a sense of achievement and progress...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Cool-hand Luke can handle price-tag

Having a hefty price tag can weight heavy on your shoulders – it certainly did for me when I moved back to Chelsea in 1997 for £5.5m. At the time I was the most expensive English defender and there was a lot of pressure that came with that. I found it quite hard and Luke Shaw now finds himself in a similar position after moving to Manchester United for £30m. It does make you look at things differently...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: It’s time to give England’s players a break

There’s no doubt England’s players will be disappointed with the way things panned out in Brazil, but they deserve a break after the mentally exhausting season they have all had. They’ll feel like they are coming home prematurely because going into these tournaments you always think that you’re good enough to progress, so to lose their first two games and be out of the World Cup this early will...

blogs: John Hemmingham: Fresh faces give us cause for hope

In my years following England I’ve seen some great players come and go – and teams rise and fall. I can say with pride that I saw every game David Beckham played for England and I have also been privileged enough to have seen all of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard’s appearances. Watching the Costa Rica match it was hard to think that it might be both of their final appearances. I remember Gerrard...
