That's shocking. Hardly any Croatia fans there, 200 at most? If their allocation didn't get reassigned that's a big chunk of it. Plus unsold hospitality (prices were sheer greed)? People not getting a COVID test sorted?

18,479 crowd, why not 22,500? Are uefa/fa going to up there game & get real fans in the ground for Friday night

Regardless of the crowd size, that was one of the best atmosphere in the behind the goal. You don't need lots of fans, you just need passion.

Team England should ask for an explanation from UEFA, crazy when loads disappointed. I assume the 2500 shortfall in the Croatia allocation weren't resold, why not?

Is it possible the 22,500 includes press and various 'official' who don't count as part of the crowd figure. The ground was nowhere near 25% full and the allocation doesn't seem to have been done evenly as the corporate section was the fullest part of the ground.

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Youth or experience for second Miami test?

The game against Honduras tonight is the final chance for a player to stake their claim for that World Cup opener against Italy next Saturday, and warm-up matches are key - just look at Michael Owen at France 98. The build-up to this tournament and that one 16 years ago is similar in many ways because there was a lot of experience in that England squad that I played in, and Michael really burst onto the scene. It was...

blogs: David Stone: Marvellous Miami is just like I pictured it

I've been to the US a few times before, but Miami really lives up to every cultural stereotype you can think of. It's big, bright and brash, not to mention full of hordes of identically-dressed, beautiful people. I’ve been to watch the Miami Marlins, the city's baseball team, in a local derby against the Tampa Bay Rays. While the stadium itself was two-thirds empty, the dozen or so England fans there...

blogs: Tim Vickery: Honduras and Professor Suarez lie in wait for Hodgson's hopefuls

The fitness of the Uruguay striker permitting, England have a date with Luis Suarez on 19 June. First, though, comes an encounter with his namesake on Saturday. Honduras are coached by Luis Fernando Suarez – a man who England fans have cause to...

blogs: Sue Smith: Striking a balance is key during a World Cup

Building up to a major international tournament is strange because you’ve spent so long preparing and then all of a sudden you’re playing in a World Cup – you don’t even think about it you just do your job. I would like to think...

blogs: Marios Papaloizou: Football’s friendly fire is my favourite time of year

Somewhere in-between the nerve-racking qualifying campaigns and the unbearable tension that surrounds a major tournament there occasionally lies a perfect storm of happy sentiment that surrounds the England team. Whether it's Peter Crouch's robot...
