EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Mask or no mask

According to UEFA

Stadium measures

All persons attending UEFA EURO 2020™ matches are required to comply with all sanitary measures and policies in place, including the requirement to:

Always maintain distance from other fans.

Wear a face mask – the mask has to cover your mouth and nose at all times. You can safely take it off when in your dedicated seat in the stands.

Arrive at the stadium during your 30-minute designated entry time slot (visible on your ticket) which will help keep everyone safe by ensuring social distance is maintained.

BUT according to Mr Jobsworth-Steward who has obviously never attended a customer service course insisted they had to be worn while sitting down cos UEFA are wrong.

Who’s right??

I seen they never told Rooney or Redknapp unless their mouths are under their chins

After doing as I was told and getting in the ground 2 hours before it started (the sun helped) I went and sat in my seat. My wife then sat next to me. Two minutes later a steward came over and told me to (a) wear a mask and (b) to move away from my wife and sit in our own seats. I said this is my wife but he said if I failed to comply I would be removed from the stadium. I told him he will have job on his hands enforcing this consistently for the next 4 hours. Anyway, we went down to the concourse with people singing and hugging each other with no masks and, essentially, indoors. Compare that bit of stewarding to the pragmatic approach taken by the stewards in Middlesbrough.

The steward. The list of instructions I was sent pre match says you should wear a mask at all times. You can safely remove it when seated TO EAT AND DRINK. This implies you should wear it at other times.
Frankly I’m amazed that after a really well organised event and a good game , people who were lucky enough to get tickets still come on here to moan.

I thought the stewards yesterday were okay personally. It was a scorching hot day so must have been tough for them standing there in uniform all day. Even under the concourse it was really humid!

    In reply to Brian Crofts:

It wasn’t a moan, I was highlighting the fact that UEFA rules re wearing masks were different to the staff at Wembley. I wear a mask for my job so it doesn’t bother me, but it is confusing when it is written in an email that you don’t have to wear one once you reach your seat.

    In reply to Brian Crofts:

Brian, when I reasonably ask a steward without at any time being aggressive or raising my voice a reasonable question as to why I can't sit next to my wife 2 hours before kick-off and as a result being immediately threatened to be removed from the stadium I think I have a right to moan. And as for being "lucky" to get a ticket I do think some of us at the game were not "lucky" but through years of going rightly, in my view, feel entitled if sufficient tickets are available.

That sounds ridiculous, mate. I hope you got their steward number and can make a complaint about it
