EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

R16 and QFs outside UK

Pretty much given up on these now. Probably should have a long time ago.. Even if any of the host countries turn Green around the 29th (unlikely) then taking two tests is probably not worth the risk. EU COVID certificate becomes valid from 1st July but UK very unlikely to be accepting it. If there is a relaxation of rules for fans coming to UK for the Semis then would be a bit mean if England fans returning from a QF abroad had to quarantine (if still Amber) but foreign fans arriving for the Semi didn't. Govt deny this is being considered anyway. All hope gone?

Sounds like a good plan David so much up in the air right now. I wonder if the FA would even take up an allocation for matches abroad? Especially for potential QF's in Baku (All flights transit through a Red list country) or Munich ( UK Citizens who are not German Residents not permitted).

PS this is what the Govt/NHS Test and Trace team told me to put on the passenger locator form for a stay (where I clearly said I was not transiting) of less than 48 hrs.

Travel Plans: "Stay in the UK"
Are you required to complete COVID-19 tests on arrival: "No"
    Chose Job exemption: 'Transit Passenger"

    In reply to Paul Probyn:

Paul on the topic of insurance I found this on the independent website:

"Three travel insurers have become the first in the UK to offer policies covering red, amber and green list countries.

CoverForYou, Cedar Tree and Outbacker have all launched policies that aren’t impacted by the current ambiguity of the government’s traffic light system for international travel.

The policies even cover travel against Foreign Office (FCDO) advice; the FCDO has a blanket advisory against non-essential international travel, with only a slim number of countries and islands exempt from this at present.

The expansion of cover has been added automatically to all policies, both new and existing, at no additional cost to customers.

Policy prices start from £8 for single-trip cover for a long weekend.

If the FCDO advises against all but essential travel, and the customer’s travel is deemed essential – for example, for work or education – they are fully covered.

Whereas if their travel is non-essential, such as a holiday, cover is provided, but excludes any claim arising, either directly or indirectly, from the reason the FCDO advises against travelling there. In most cases, this means coronavirus-related claims would be excluded."

So you would be ok unless you got COVID... which I am willing to take the chance on given I'm (relatively) young fit and vaccinated but obviously everyone is in a different situation

Some good news for potential R16 game:

"Parken Stadium in Copenhagen will let in 25,000 spectators up from 15,900 that was initially planned."

So they are up to 65% capacity. That would put the FA's allocation at 4,000 - more than we have at Wembley at present.

Romania has also just increased their capacity to 50% (Not that we have any chance to play there but still interesting)

    In reply to David Lilley:

More good news for potential Denmark game from Danish government site (only available in Danish for some reason and the English version of the website isn't updated with this yet):

"Easier to enter for fully vaccinated from OECD countries

With effect from Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 16 vaccinated from OECD countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States, are equated with vaccinated from “yellow” third countries, with vaccinated from EU and Schengen countries. This means that they can enter if they can document that they have been vaccinated with an EMA-approved vaccine and that 14 days have passed since the last bite. They will be exempted i.a. from requirements for recognizable purpose and test and isolation requirements."

So IF anyone is more than 14 days out from their last vaccine (as I am, fortunately) there are no restrictions or tests required.

Looks like I am hoping for 2nd place in the group (which also means we avoid playing the group of death game in the Wembley R16). St Petersberg also looking good for travel with just a neg COVID-19 test required prior to departure. Sounds like the most fun of the potentially feasible routes through the tournament (maybe behind Glasgow > Rome but Glasgow capacity more or less negates any chance of me, a 10%er, getting a ticket)

With effect from Saturday, June 5, 2021

And with effect from Wednesday 9th June, rules for entry from the UK were tightened because of Danish concerns over an increase in cases of the delta variant in the UK. This is why I'm not doing a post on the subject today, but will wait until 23rd June. A running commentary of the changes would just confuse people.

Yeah, confusion reigns already, so absolutely no need to add to it, a lot can change between now and then and it may not be needed anyway...

Looks as if the airlines can see the writing on the wall and are not expecting loads of countries to suddenly move onto the green list. I logged in this morning to find my Rome and St Petersburg flights have been cancelled.

I think its Budapest (which is operating at 100%) that we could possibly go to with a 3rd place not Bucharest.

Paul - that's not good news on the flights.. I cant see any relevant countries being added to Green list on next review (24th June) or he Govt only adding more countries might have placed restrictions on Brits traveling there

Making this make more sense! "I can't see any relevant countries being added to Green list on the next review (24th June),or, if the past updates are anything to go by the Govt will only add new countries that have placed further restrictions on Brits traveling there"

Wouldn't any QF attendance to a UK listed Amber country invalidate your chance to buy (or use) a SF ticket, due to the 10 day mandated home quarantine?

Thanks for posting this. I managed to get a walk-in for my second vaccination yesterday, so at least the 14 day rule won't be a problem. Just one or two other obstacles to overcome :-)

I honestly can't see the FA taking up ticket allocations for games in amber or red list countries. It would help if they could clarify that in advance.

I dont think any Euro 2020 countries are on the red list right now... The two main issues are the other QF's via the 3rd place route... For Munich Germany is not allowing British visitors and for Baku there are no suitable direct flights from the UK and the only way to get there is to transit through Egypt, Turkey or Qatar which are all on the red list!
