EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Category 2 ticket - back row upper tier and 11am entry - how is this okay?

I’ve just had my ticket through on the uefa app.

Category 2 - block 505 row 31. I’ve paid 125 euros for a ticket on my own and I’ve been placed in the upper tier almost at the back of the stadium.

My time slot entry is 11-1130am. That means I will have to be in the stadium 150 minutes before kick off and I’ve been made aware there’s going to be no beer. If it’s anything like previous games at Wembley, bags and/or battery packs won’t be allowed in which means a phone with no charge probably half way into that waiting period before kick off.

To make things worse I’m going to the game on my own so can’t even sit next to a mate and let the time pass by. I know everyone’s said no ones ever really on their own at an England match but it still is a grim overlook.

Other gripes;

Category 3 ticket holders I know have paid half the price of a category 2 ticket and their seated 10 rows back behind the goal in the lower tier. Additionally, their time slots are 1300-1330.

Maybe the old age saying of you get what you pay for, really isn’t that accurate in these circumstances.

The official UEFA website advises you to take a power pack to the stadium for your phone so it is to be hoped that Wembley bag searchers know about this. See item 7 on this page.

Some Category 3 ticket holders may have better seats (I'm also up in the gods) and I'm sure I read that some category 1 tickets are up there.
EUFA obviously, do know what they are doing and don't give a sausage,  maybe Covid will be used as an excuse.

Pretty much exactly the same experience with Category 2 tickets, at the back in block 504. Managed to get tickets for the first three matches and seats are around the same area for each game. We have two tickets, live in the same house and been placed a seat apart each time! Very pleased to be going, but disappointed at how much the tickets cost for where we have ended up.

You’ll need to get in at that time to get all the way up there won’t you. There’s lots of people who have missed out who would swap with you. The bigger gripe is that there isn’t a ticket resale platform so that all you who are moaning can’t sell your ticket to someone that wants it.

Because people have missed out on tickets, shouldn't mean that EUFA should treat ESTC members who have paid there dues to follow England, the same as the general public.

    In reply to Kevin Jenkins:

Uefa made the decision that cat 3 tickets are behind the goal, cat 2 in the corners and cat 1 down the side of the pitch, as far as I can remember it’s been like that for a long time, they also changed their original decision that if you didn’t want the ticket category offered you didn’t need to accept it. ESTC members who have paid their dues following England have been treated according to ESTC rules, so have had a better chance of getting tickets than the general public. It’s not UEFA’s fault or ESTC’s fault that the COVID 19 pandemic has resulted in a reduced capacity, meaning that many people who may have had a €50 ticket to start with now be lucky enough/unlucky enough to end up with a €125 or €185 tickets.
It is UEFA’s fault that there is not a resale platform, surely when tickets are mobile it should be easily done, even when it’s ESTC tickets that are not now wanted it could be possible for Team England to make sure they can only go to other members according to their rules. Surely it would benefit Team England if they were able to help as many members as possible as there would be less people complaining.

    In reply to Paddy Buckley:

I would have wanted most of the ESTC Members to have been offered the seats on level 1 behind the goal.
I was looking for the capacity of each tier at Wembley, but i couldn't find online.

I really wish the FA had insisted that seeing as it was just 4K tickets available then they must be all set at CAT3.
The category business this time around is nonsense.

505 seems to be a mix of cat 2 (round the corner) and cat 3 towards the goal.
As long as we make noise and win, it's one of those things. Yes UEFA have taken the preverbial, but what's new?
There's loads would love a ticket, somlook on the brightside
