EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Shambles!? Who's to blame?

Loads of threads on here and FB blaming the FA and UEFA for low allocations.

Haven't seen anyone blame the government though.  Surely they're the ones have let us down more than anyone!

Where did Scotland Croatia and the Czechs allocation go ?

You can’t blame the government for that

I'm guessing they went to their FA's. Hopefully we'll get some of the Czech and Croatian allocation back.
It doesn't look as though they received a greater allocation than promised so I wouldn't blame anyone for them getting their tickets.

The election results seem to show the majority are happy with Boris.....some countries are so far behind that they have had matches taken away altogether.

The majority are happy because he's been given credit for the vaccine programme and, to be fair, he took a big gamble that seems to have paid off.
His decisions at the start of 2020 are borderline criminal though and the high death rate, in my opinion, is driving his reluctance to allow people into events this summer.
The 25% / 50% is a government issue not the FA or UEFA. I'm hoping pressure is being applied to allow as many as possible into the semi final and final

Some blame lands with ESTC/FA. We got 3,600 allocation. That's not what is being advertised on here.

    In reply to Luke Taylor:

I might be wrong but I thought the travel club received about 12% of capacity for tournaments. This was about 11k for Wembley.
The government are only allowing 25% of capacity to be used so our allocation is reduced accordingly.
I'd like to see loyalty rewarded more but reducing the hospitality and public ballot allocations but I can understand why UEFA wouldn't do that.

Well, if 100% are allowed in for the semis & the final, you can also have a moan at the infection spike 5 weeks later eh?

    Win, win.

    We got 3,600 allocation.

Where did you get that from ? I've seen this number bandied about and it has probably arisen from somebody making an incorrect assumption.

The original UEFA ticketing pamphlet from 2019 said that 32% of tickets would be reserved for the fans of the participating countries to be distributed through the official fan clubs of their national associations. For England fans, that means the ESTC. This 32% figure is an aggregate for all matches over the whole tournament but some people assumed that this meant England fans would get 16% of the stadium capacity for each of their matches. 16% of 90,000 is 14,400 and if crowds are reduced to 25% then this 14,400 would come down to 3,600.

However, Wembley being a larger stadium than the others, our original allocation for group matches was just under 12,000 not 14,400. This figure has been reduced to around 3,000, which is pro rata.

Your question is "Who's to blame?". But actually it's more about what's to blame. It might have escaped your attention but there's been this thing called Covid-19 going around. We knew well before Covid-19 that the ESTC allocation was 12,000. Capacity is now 25%. And 25% of 12,000 is 3,000. Simples. Quite why you think the government is to blame is beyond me.

I blame the government for their tardiness on pretty much everything throughout the pandemic. It's been an absolute shitshow in my opinion.
Their one shining moment was giving the NHS responsibility for the vaccine rollout and the force responsibility for the logistics.

Well , 20.8 % of the population voted conservative in 2019 . So 1/5 of the population wield almost absolute power down to our electoral system . So 4/5 people actually didn’t vote for the people who effectively run a dictatorship due to their “majority “ in parliament whilst our biggest media outlet is also owned by the government . Good thing is we live in a free society

I posted this on the ESTC FB page a couple of days ago:

I've seen the following blamed so far:

    UEFA
    The FA
    The ESTC
    The system
    The British Government
    Sponsors
    And TV companies

Not seen one, complaining, member put their hands up and say they were at fault for attending too few games though.
