EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Souvenir Tickets

As all tickets through ESTC were going to be delivered by smart phone app, the spring 2020 application process included the option to request souvenir paper tickets which would be delivered to people's registered address after the tournament.

As we are now having all of our tickets cancelled and refunded, any request for souvenir tickets will also be cancelled and the €15 cost will be included in the refund. This is confirmed in the FA News Bulletin. So, when those members who get tickets in the reduced allocation pay for their tickets, will there be an option to request souvenir tickets again ?

For the Nations League in 2019, UEFA offered the option to request souvenir tickets and many England fans planned to take up this option. The souvenir tickets had to be requested at the time of the ticket application but we weren't told this until after applications closed and I'm pretty sure that this option never appeared on the application page of the ticket website. When people pointed out to UEFA that the option had not been on the web page they were told that the orders couldn't subsequently be changed to include this option.

The 2019 experience makes me suppose that we will not have the option to request souvenir tickets under the proposed system for the reduced ticket allocation. This would be a pity as many ESTC members save their tickets in collections. Imagine England getting to the final and we don't have a paper ticket for the collection.

I can confirm that three tickets were delivered today. The fourth match I attended (The Final), as I said previously, I got a printed one on the day, so as the e-ticket was cancelled off the app, then I didn't expect to get a souvenir ticket too, even though I'd actually paid the extra €15 for one!

The matchday ticket and the three souvenir tickets are all printed on the same ticket stock.

There are some minor differences between the (Final) matchday ticket and the souvenir tickets:

1 - The matchday ticket has England - Fans, Name and Fans First plus the price printed on it.

2 - The souvenir ticket omits the above and just states 'Memorabilia'.

3 - The matchday ticket has the operator reference (from the Wembley Area Ticketing Centre) printed at the bottom.

4 - The other difference is the Final/Semi-Final/Team vs Team text is different on the matchday ticket, compared to the souvenir tickets. That said, that's how the tickets may have been printed on the day as at the least the group matches don't reference group matches, they just say England vs Croatia and England vs Scotland.

Did you pay the 15 euros for each individual game, or did you only pay it once? May help out fellow members who are still waiting for their tickets.

    In reply to Andrew McCarthy:

Yes, I paid for a souvenir ticket each time I ordered a ticket (4x €15).

Given the (minor) differences between the matchday ticket and the souvenir tickets, then I'm a bit annoyed that UEFA haven't supplied me with a souvenir ticket of the Final too!

With the benefit of hindsight, I'd have trotted off to the Wembley Arena Ticketing Centre before all four matches I attended and got a free printed ticket on the day, save myself €60 and got an 'original'.

But hey, a few things aside, it was a fabulous tournament (in spite of very difficult world circumstances) and you can't put a price on that!

Do the tickets you've received match the packing slip?

My packing slip / letter showed an inventory of the tickets / order reference for all (three) tickets ordered / enclosed.

Note: The fourth (Final) ticket was cancelled and not shown / enclosed as I got a printed one on the day!

I don’t about the packing slips, Nigel, but the ticket I’ve received (ordered for every game I attended, paid about four times, one ticket received!), but it doesn’t even correspond with the block, row or seat allocated to me via the app. Hopefully, the rest of my orders will follow.

    My Email from UEFA

"You have received wrongly information from your Football assocation, it does not work as they have explained.

You could purchase souvenir tickets during the payment for your order, if your tickets would be placed in 1 order then you would be charged the souvenir fee only once.

Since you have not bought them during the payment of your order, you are only able to purchase them through the link that we have provided, we do not have any other option to release them for sale again.

And indeed the Replica tickets on the webshop cannot be personalised."

    In reply to Matthew Exon:

Does that mean that the replica ticket on the official UEFA shop is a blank ticket or do they just choose a random match (the match shown is just illustrative) - great if that was a match anyone attended?

EURO2020 is over, but I think UEFA are missing a trick here. Someone buys a customisable ticket for €15 or €10 (the price isn't the point) - they may buy some other merchandise too - saves UEFA from putting unsold merchandise into the inevitable 'sale'!

You can imagine some unsold stuff ending up at B&M Bargains, Poundland or EuroSaver etc.

You can get a replica ticket for whichever match you want.

    store.uefa.com/.../replica-tickets.html

It can't be customised to the seat which you occupied. I'm hoping, when the souvenir tickets arrive, that they will be for my actual seats.

This is starting to look like a rip-off. The one ticket I have received is marked ‘memorabilia’ and bears no relation to the seat I was allocated for the game. The ticket should have my details on it and correspond with the actual seat I was allocated on the ticketing app. Also, I’ve paid €15 four times for souvenir tickets and, as previously stated, have only received the one ticket.

    Dissapointing if this is case.

blogs: Tim Vickery: A World Cup in every sense

Two World Cup Finals are being replayed in this week’s 2014 semi finals. The Germans seek revenge for their 2-0 defeat in 2002 when they meet Brazil – amazingly only the second time these giants have ever met in the tournament. And Holland were the closest – so far – a European team has ever come to winning the World Cup in South America when they hit the post with almost the last kick of normal...

blogs: Sue Smith: England can bounce back

There’s no doubt England can bounce back – the women’s team did it after the 2007 World Cup by going all the way in Euro 2009. Although we lost against Germany in the final of those Euros, there was a sense of achievement and progress...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Cool-hand Luke can handle price-tag

Having a hefty price tag can weight heavy on your shoulders – it certainly did for me when I moved back to Chelsea in 1997 for £5.5m. At the time I was the most expensive English defender and there was a lot of pressure that came with that. I found it quite hard and Luke Shaw now finds himself in a similar position after moving to Manchester United for £30m. It does make you look at things differently...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: It’s time to give England’s players a break

There’s no doubt England’s players will be disappointed with the way things panned out in Brazil, but they deserve a break after the mentally exhausting season they have all had. They’ll feel like they are coming home prematurely because going into these tournaments you always think that you’re good enough to progress, so to lose their first two games and be out of the World Cup this early will...

blogs: John Hemmingham: Fresh faces give us cause for hope

In my years following England I’ve seen some great players come and go – and teams rise and fall. I can say with pride that I saw every game David Beckham played for England and I have also been privileged enough to have seen all of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard’s appearances. Watching the Costa Rica match it was hard to think that it might be both of their final appearances. I remember Gerrard...
