So I am on 9 Caps and hence in the last 10% what are my odds of getting tickets? 300 Tickets to be split among how many 10%ers?

    Using indicative numbers:

If there were 11,000 allocated tickets originally and there are 3,000 tickets now, 2,700 will be allocated though the 70% and 20% allocations leaving 300 tickets available for the final ballot.

2,700 of the 11,000 will have been allocated tickets by that point so there will be 8,300 people in the final ballot.

300 tickets between 8,300 people means about a 3% chance of success.

Team England can you please take into account those low cappers who were in the 1200 at Volgograd when doing your 10% ballot

    Many thanks

Exactly... 3% chance of getting a ticket is an absolute joke for a paid up member who went to all the games in Russia, went to the Porto for Nations league and got 9 caps. Mates who got tickets in the main draw have 25% chance of keeping thiers having put in none of that time, money or effort.

9 times better chance to keep tickets obtained directly from UEFA in the general sale over tickets obtained through our own supporters club - something wrong with that equation.

The membership scheme is set up such that tournament tickets are the ultimate reward for the travel and commitment members have done in the two campaigns prior to that tournament.

Hence the Nations League finals and Russia World Cup you were lucky enough to get through travel prior to those or fortunate in the ballot.  Accordingly these tournament fixtures dont themselves accrue caps.

Frustrating as it is, most might agree this loyalty system is a fair one.

Don't give up on tickets just yet. Just as you were lucky for the NL and Russia in the ballot you might be again.

Otherwise start attending and travelling and accruing for Qatar (if that's your bag) and more likely Germany.

A lot of people prefer the aways (which, in themselves, are a reward to some of the more 'functional' home games) to tournament football anyway.

    Genuinely good luck.

So what is there alternative? Members who have barley a missed a single over the last 5 years or so miss out to people who’ve been to the tournaments and a few games in between? I’m the same as you and probably going to miss out but it’s the fairest solution mate

Surely Croatia and the Czech’s won’t take the full 3,000? Can’t see many wanting to travelling over and having to quarantine. There’ll be a few UK based fans so could take 1,000 maybe? Will any returns go to us?

    Good maths mate.

These are the consolidated factors, I think of, which will change the likelihood of getting tickets for the group matches:

    'Negatively'

-If UEFA release less than previously envisaged.

-You would think that the ESTC team won't split groups into different categories, and therefore different parts of the ground, of groups that are an adult and minor combo on different caps but where caps levels mean all would get a ticket.

This, although great for the family in question, means other members will be slightly and understandably impacted

'Positively' before draw - meaning more chance in first sale

-The amount of ESTC members who have cancelled their group tickets in the various windows. This won't be totally insignificant IMO and they will be ineligible in the ballot.

-If the ESTC team get more tickets. They've got a great track record on this.

-This is very very grim but unfortunately some, previously successful, ESTC members will no longer be members. Be it kicked out or sadly no longer with us.

'Positively' after draw meaning more chance in second sale

-Again, if the ESTC team get more tickets. They've got a great track record on this.

-Not all ESTC members automatically entered into the ballot will now be take up their new tickets. E.g. Apathy, changes of circumstances, not wanting to take any risks etc will mean they won't take up their tickets. Others simply won't be able to afford the new categories

Not long to find out anyway.

    In reply to George Smith:

I know it won't make you feel better but the original odds of getting tickets through the FA were much shorter than the odds through UEFA. Multiply the odds together of being successful in both ballots and I suspect they are similar.

Unfortunately for you this club is set up to reward people's loyalty in attending non-tournament games but making them eligible for tournament games. You presumably got that reward in Russia and Portugal.

This situation is unprecedented with a ridiculously low allocation for a tournament. It means that the number of non-tournament games you need to have attended is also unprecedented.

Only for the second round and quarter final. For all the other games, only people who didn’t return their tickets are in the ballot.

blogs: Sue Smith: England’s forward focus can rattle Uruguay

Before every tournament most people are guilty of thinking a bit higher of England than they probably should - me included, I thought we would beat Italy 2-0! But despite the result I think we must take lots of positives from the performance. It was great to see the players actually go for it in the match and I thought we were quite entertaining. Raheem Sterling was great - every time he got the ball he looked dangerous...

blogs: Adrian Bevington: The connection between England’s players and fans at a World Cup cannot be overestimated

Even now I can recall it perfectly. Lucio stumbled and miscontrolled when heading towards his own goal, and Michael Owen seized the moment. I knew at that point, in Shizuoka in 2002, that Michael would score. And I have to confess that at that moment I really did think we are going to win the World Cup. It is an emotion that takes over you, and although it didn’t turn out to be correct, one of the great pleasures...
