Euro 2021 Tickets - stick or twist?

I've just read UEFA's latest reminder that the final date for optional return of tickets is 22nd April. Things may be a bit clearer by then, but who knows what the situation will be in June and July? So we could find ourselves still holding valid tickets for a knock-out match somewhere like St Petersburg, but be barred from travelling there and lose a few hundred quid. Are others planning to return any tickets or just keep fingers crossed? Having already booked accommodation for Middlesborough, I guess I'll stick and hope.

    Yeah fingers crossed The FA are going to let us know today. Like Matt says they are still honouring the alloted percentage to supporters groups it’s just I expect it will be reduced accordingly to the stadium capacity. So probably another caps based ballot for tickets while any general sale tickets will be up for an outright lottery ballot.
    Curious as to how they’re going to manage ticket category issues but they may just ignore that entirely with some getting a little bit of an upgrade.

    What do people think of this as a possible scenario. It's just an idea. I don't want to start any rumours.

    Idea : If Dublin is stripped of its matches because they can't guarantee that fans will be able to attend then
    - the 3 group matches are moved to London / Glasgow or another UK location
    - the R16 goes to another country so as not to give England the advantage of yet another "home" match.

    would just be nice to no if they make a decision on 19th wether to strip dublin of the R16 if they will tell us the new venue before the portal closes so people can make a decision if they want to still go ahead without losing money

    Hmmm interesting update, Ireland likely to follow suit do we think?
    Still swaying towards keeping hold and hoping for the best for the quarters. Second round will hang onto till an Ireland venue change is definitely off the table and then make a decision.

    Confirmation by the way that tickets from the Uefa ballot are now also going to be via the Mobile app as well .  They were originally going to be proper paper tickets.   Not sure about sponsors etc.

    The latest story is that the R16 due to be played in Dublin is to be switched to Moscow. England would be in that match if we were to win the group. We would alternatively be going to St Petersburg for the QF if we were to come second in our group and win the R16 in Copenhagen. So, I have looked more carefully at the FCO web page regarding entering Russia. The following is the current situation.

    All direct flights between the UK and Russia were suspended on 20th December 2020 and this suspension will last until 1st June 2021. (There is no saying whether it might then be extended.) UK Nationals are currently prohibited from entering Russia from a country other than the UK unless they can provide documented proof that they are a citizen of this other country or a permanent resident there.

    Those who are eligible to enter the country from the UK must produce a negative covid-19 test taken within the previous 72 hours and quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

    At this stage, we do not know whether Russia will be on the UK's green, amber or red travel list. There may be a mandatory period of self-isolation or quarantine on return to the UK.

    We have to make a decision regarding whether to keep our R16 tickets by 22nd (this Thursday). Things may change before the tournament takes place but there is unlikely to be any change before this decision day.

    No. The R16 is a conditional ticket which takes you to wherever the match is being played. Only an unconditional ticket to Dublin would benefit from the 50 km rule.

    Scenario 1: loads of ticket cancellations. Covid rates plummet. Stadium capacities get increased again. Travel restrictions relaxed. UEFA see £ and decide to re-sell tickets. Top cappers get 1st dibs.

    Scenario 2: loads of ticket cancellations. Covid still an issue. Not a problem.

    Scenario 3: we don't cancel QF tickets. Covid plummets. Everywhere opens. We get to go.

    Scenario 4: we don't cancel QF tickets. Covid remains. Nowhere opens. We can't go. Frustration.

    I think scenario 1 highly likely and best option (for me at least) for QF.
    R16 might be saved by 50km rule but I'll need confirmation.

    No, I'm not sure. I doubt whether UEFA have considered this question. I try to put myself into their mindset.

    Would UEFA give a refund at the fan's request after the 22nd April deadline on the grounds that the Dublin (and Bilbao) fixtures have been moved by more than 50 km, even though we could be playing in Copenhagen, Budapest or Glasgow whose fixtures have not been moved ? I doubt it.

    Would they give a refund after the group stage has finished but only if we have qualified for the R16 in Moscow (or Seville) ? I doubt that too.
