EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

UEFA email advising of tickets

I have just had an email from UEFA with the subject heading:

We Have Tickets for you!

When I log in it shows me the three England group games with a few different options, only Cat 1 for Croatia, a few different cats for the other 2 games.

I am reluctant to pay for these as I have gone through the FA to be put on the waiting list and don't want it to affect my chances through the FA but my question is...

The Fa must now know how many tickets they've been able to secure if UEFA are already offering me some and when are we likely to hear from the FA, as I would've expected they'd have notified us before UEFA...

Sounds as if some have taken.up this offer and paid for the tickets and then gone onto purchase flights and accommodation.

But then they've received an email from UEFA that their tickets have been cancelled and issued with a refund.

    Not ideal.

Looks like a genuine UEFA mistake.

Huge pat on the back to the ESTC staff for helping those fans who were in the mire.

    Great result.

UEFA really need to pull their finger out to help these fans who have been right royally messed up. This is different from the Croatia debacle where UEFA could hide behind the figleaf that Croatia's stadium ban was announced 3 years previously. No, this time there are no mitigating circumstances.

So what should UEFA do ? They should ensure that, if any tickets for these matches are submitted to the resale platform later this month, then they are offered to the 200 fans who have been messed up. If no such tickets are submitted, then UEFA should sacrifice some of their 'football family' allocation or their VIP tickets. When people have shelled out hundreds on non-refundable arrangements then shrugging the shoulders won't do !

I would also like to compliment Team England on their communications regarding Euro 2020. They are being far more open than they used to be, giving us behind the scenes insights and intermediate progress reports. Thanks, guys.

Mrs went on yesterday and there was the odd single appearing every now and again when she refreshed the page. Most were cat 1s but she managed to get a cat 3 for the second group game which she’s happy with.

I too would also like to thank the FA for the regular updates and hard work they’ve done to help fans who were in the mire after the original ballot result fiasco. I know they’ve not yet released all the details about how to purchase and what is available I write this knowing I may not be getting the exact tickets I may have got if I’d have applied correctly, but the fact they have secured any tickets at all and they’ve been fantastic in fighting members corners with UEFA is worthy of thanks.

I’ve been an ESTC member since 2014 and there was a real discord between ESTC members and the FA back then, in the last few years they have been really good by their members, I must say may it long continue.

I do wonder if the extra tickets they were giving to the FAs got put on by mistake...

yep, and every other FA have probably had the same issue of people entering the 'wrong' section, and then people who were allocated not paying for those tickets, so there was then some extra tickets that those FAs will want to sell to their own fans.

blogs: Sue Smith: England’s forward focus can rattle Uruguay

Before every tournament most people are guilty of thinking a bit higher of England than they probably should - me included, I thought we would beat Italy 2-0! But despite the result I think we must take lots of positives from the performance. It was great to see the players actually go for it in the match and I thought we were quite entertaining. Raheem Sterling was great - every time he got the ball he looked dangerous...

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Deny Luis Suarez space and England can prevail

How do you stop Luis Suarez? The key for England will be communication and getting tighter defensively than they did against Italy. There was an uncertainty and a vulnerability to England's defence, particularly down the left, on Saturday night...

blogs: John Hemmingham: Even Balotelli’s fiancée knows this band on the run

There is no better place to be as the leader of England’s band than at a World Cup in Brazil – but the one downside is we don’t know if we’ll be allowed to play inside the stadiums! This country has two loves, music and football...

Now might be a good time to remind everyone that Spain lost their first match in the last World Cup – and look what happened to them! And so, to take our minds off the result in Manaus, I decided to have a look at one of world football’s most...

blogs: Adrian Bevington: The connection between England’s players and fans at a World Cup cannot be overestimated

Even now I can recall it perfectly. Lucio stumbled and miscontrolled when heading towards his own goal, and Michael Owen seized the moment. I knew at that point, in Shizuoka in 2002, that Michael would score. And I have to confess that at that moment I really did think we are going to win the World Cup. It is an emotion that takes over you, and although it didn’t turn out to be correct, one of the great pleasures...
