EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

On 40 caps and just ticked the upgrade box advise

I put my application in for all the lower category games including fans 1st for semi and final,

I have just had last minute nerves and logged back in and ticked the upgrade box.

2 questions please.

1) with 40 caps do I really need to worry about upgrading?

2)any idea if you will only be upgraded if you caps are too low for that category?

Only asking this as when applying for World Cup tickets a friend ticked he was happy to upgrade and I didn’t, we had the same amount of caps , I got the cheaper ticket he got upgraded.

Thanks All

It seems you have a made a bit of mess of the application with your pals, cant see you going fans first with the one on 8 caps bumping you up to another cat possibly 3 maybe even cat 2 if it allows it as his caps so low!

What other games have you applied for with him? You could be doing cat 2s for group games as well.

Should of made him do his own.

    In reply to David Smith:

He's applied for all 7 with us! Whilst I don't want him to be unsuccessful, I doubt he'd have enough caps for all the matches even at Cat 2 other than for the group games at Wembley. We've requested Cat 3 going up to Cat 2 for the first 5 games and Fans First up to Cat 3 for the SF and F.

I think the cut off for guaranteed Fans First plus Cat 3 for SF and F will be around 7000 so as there are around 8500 higher capped members than him, he probably won't qualify for even Cat 3s so hopefully the rest of us will get the Fans First tickets.

I think he's even less likely to get Cat 3s or 2s for the overseas matches as only around 3500 will be in the top 70% and there are only 2009 Cat 3s available for R of 16 so even I might struggle to qualify for those at 44 caps. That was why we said we'd go up one category if necessary because this was probably the only match where it wasn't guaranteed.

I agree the most likely bump up will be the group matches where he should qualify for Cat 2s on 8 caps so presumably we'll also be bumped up meaning 75 Euros extra per game.

If it's only that much, we can swallow it and at least we'll be sat with our mate who can buy us a few pints for the privilege!

My fear is all 7 games being bumped up costing an extra 680 Euros so I hope my calculations are correct!

I really hope it works out for you, but I think the only game you wil not get bumped up on is the 3rd group game other than that I think you will be looking at Cat 2s

    Good Luck

It’s all going to hinge on how many have already got tickets, how many don’t apply and weather any tickets from the football family get added in to our allocation, he might not be that far off being in the top 70% for Wembley games and get cat 3, I agree he will be lucky to get tickets to R16 and QF at cat 2 at best, but for the semi and final it could be similar to the group games and get lucky with cat 3. Don’t really know what kind of luck to wish you, your mates luck could cost the rest of you but hey ho. It would be so much better if we got to Wembley and didn’t encounter line after line of touts, they always seem to get them.

It will be interesting to see how the touts operate because of the new ticketing arrangements.
I see the same faces all over the UK at different sporting events and music festivals. It must be lucrative as I recognised some in Moscow for the World Cup!

Pretty sure the FA have been clear on how the 70/20/10 split works, or the way i see it - they have. If you are in the top 70% you are entitled to a ticket. But depending where you are in the cap table, is/was how you should apply ...........

For example - so for group matches there are 11,951 tickets, (which means 70% - the first 8365 in the cap table qualify for a ticket) of which 7880 are cat 3, which means if you`re on 6/7 caps up to 10 caps and going for cat 3, you need to tick the box to be guaranteed a ticket. Because if everyone above you applies for the cat 3`s, then only cat 1/2`s would be left. So to get a ticket you will have needed to have ticked the box. Also if you are below 6 caps, you should have applied for cat 2`s or 1`s and again, ticked the box.

    Hope that helps ! .........

Some may recall this thread where I was worried that because we included an 8 capper mate of ours in a group with 3 of us who are 40+ cappers, it might mean we would all be given Cat 2s/Cat 3 for the Final because he wouldn't qualify for the Cat 3s/Fans First. Well either he's been very lucky in the ballot or he's somehow benefited by being in our group because he's secured (along with the rest of us), all 7 match tickets at the cheapest category. I hope most people have got what they requested or will do in any future releases.

    Our group was 2 x 18 caps & 1 x 14 caps.
1 on 18 and the other on 14 got bumped up from cat 2 to cat1 for the R16 while the other 18 capper didn't get one.
For the final 1 x 18 capper got fans 1st for both the semi & final, the other 18 capper got cat3 semi & fans 1st for the final.
While the 14 capper got cat3 for both semi & the final. So all in all a mixed bag.

So all three of you applied in the same application?
