EURO 2020

UEFA EURO 2020

Semi-Final / Final dilemma

Probably one of many posts like this today and in the next few days...

I've got down to the semi-final / final part of the application and am pondering my choices.

I've ticked that I'm willing to go up a category. For these two games the lowest category is Fans First so I assume going up one is to go into category 3.

I'm on 22 caps and according to the latest figures there are 4456 people on 22 caps or above. I've read that half the allocation of tickets per game will be in the lowest category, although for these two games I suspect that means category 3 with a proportion of those offered as Fans First. If that is correct and tickets are allocated by category choice based on your number of caps then I should be okay. If it isn't am I better off ignoring the Fans First option and going for category 3 with a willingness to move to category 2?

When did life get so complicated!

Oh well, taken the chance on Fans First up to category 3. £500 for a ticket, even to see England in a final, is ridiculous.

You say that but when it comes around you will probably pay anything. I didnt think twice about £250 in Moscow for the WC Semi last year

Apparently 13,000 Fans First tickets available for each semi and the final. No idea how they split them but if it were a half to general sale and a quarter per participating team that would be over 3000 tickets per match if we get that far. I doubt I'd qualify on 22 caps, but there should then be at least a couple of thousand ordinary category 3 tickets available after that.

I’m in the same position on 22 caps. Don’t know whether to chance it and go for fans first or play it safe and allot more expensive and go for cat 3

I'm sticking at fans first and willing to go up to cat 3. Going cat 3, willing to go up to cat 2 is aguaranteed extra €620 for me and my son, and that's probably going to happen anyway.  But it's also potentially an extra €900. Doubles what I've committed already.

Not applied yet, for those that have, is the option to accept higher category tickets per application, or individual games?

That's right. The option applies to the whole application. If you agree to be moved up for a group match in order to increase your chances of success then this will also apply to the final where any upgrade might break the bank.

I thought that this was the case, I would have been happy to have upgraded for the semi and the final from a fans first to a category 3.
But I think that you can change your mind before the 18th.

Have we just the option for fans first for semi and final David . If so I’m on 24 caps do you think if I select fans first and tick the box to upgrade to cat 3 do you think I will get a ticket or should I pick cat 3 with the option to go up to cat 2

Yes, 'Fans First' tickets are only offered for the semi-final and final.

I don't want the responsibility of advising you on what to apply for. What I will say is that :-
    - we are getting 11000 tickets for the final and 10500 for the semi-final
    - UEFA has said that more than half of all tickets will be category 3 (which presumably includes 'Fans First')
    - there are 4446 members on 24 caps and above, including those members in the ESC.
