UEFA EURO 2020

EURO 2020 FAQ page

Many of the calls and emails the England Supporters Club is receiving from members can be answered by our EURO 2020 FAQ page.

Please refer to this page in the first instance before calling or emailing for assistance. We are experiencing a very high call and email volume; to help us assist you please read all the information we've provided on the website.

In addition, NO access codes have been sent to members yet - these will be sent either later tonight before the ticket portal opens tomorrow. If you join the Travel Club after 5pm today, you'll be sent your access code on the 9th December.

Tickets are NOT allocated on a first-come-first-served basis and ONLY lead applicant needs an access code and an account on the UEFA's website.

Further information regarding ticket applications, including category splits will be published in due course.

I've gone Fans First for SF and Final and ticked willing to upgrade to Cat 3 - are these just the same tickets jut cheaper then? Do we know what the breakdown will be? Wondering whether on 26 caps i'm better off going Cat 3 / willing to upgrade to Cat 2?

Think i'm very middle of the road in terms of caps but can't work out if i'd be safe going Cat 3 or not.

Where can I find the breakdown of allocation for each category? The above only shows the overall allocation.

UEFA has said that more than half of tickets will be category 3. The FA are pressing for more detailed information on the category splits. But it is possible that we might not get any more guidance than this. The information provided for Euro 2016 on category splits was no more detailed than this. I agree with Matthew that you should submit an application now-ish with the plan of reviewing and revising it if we get any more information on splits.

Uefa said that over 50% of tickets will be cat 3, so your probably right to go for fans first , with an upgrade to Category 3 if required.

Does making different applications then grouping the groups together make any real difference to applying all together?

If you make different applications then you can apply for different categories. The higher cappers can perhaps apply for category 3 with a willingness to be moved up to category 2 in order to contain the costs. The lower cappers can apply for category 2 with a willingness to be moved up to category 1 in order to improve their chances of getting a ticket.

You can use the Group ID facility to link two separate applications for seating purposes. But be aware that if the two applications are successful at different category levels then the linking will be void and ineffective. Different categories cannot be seated together because they're in different areas of the stadium.

There's a fans first option when applying for the Semi final and the Final, which ones the best one the choose? Cat 3 or fans first?

As Matthew says, the 'Fans First' tickets are the same as category 3 but at a cheaper price. This is a marketing stunt so that UEFA can say that there are tickets available at less than €100 for all matches, even the final.

It is likely that the 'Fans First' tickets will be more heavily oversubscribed than the category 3 tickets because they are cheaper. This would affect your chances of being successful with your application.

Saying I cannot apply for tickets as I am too young, seems a bit ridiculous as I turn 18 2 weeks after the application phase ends? Is there anyway around this?

The issue here is that you are not buying something over the counter, where you hand over your cash and walk out with the goods. You are entering into a contract. Your application is a legally enforceable and non-revocable offer to purchase tickets at a later date (after the ballots) and UEFA's reply would be an acceptance of this offer.

Someone who is under 18 cannot enter into such a contract. This is a matter of contract law, both in the UK and throughout Europe. This is why UEFA will not allow you to apply for tickets on your own behalf.

    Hi David,

I'm sure this question has been answered on here but I can't find it and I also can't see the answer in the FAQs so I thought I'd ask as you are always very helpful.

If the lead booker receives the mobile tickets on his/her smartphone, what happens if the other people do not have a smartphone? Do you have to request paper tickets or can just display different tickets on the same phone?

    Thanks

    In reply to Richard Wolfendale:

A mobile phone ticket app was used for the Nations League in Portugal and for the England v Montenegro match.

For the Nations League, all tickets on an application were sent to the mobile phone of the lead booker. If any members of the group did not have a compatible mobile phone then their ticket could just stay on the phone of the lead booker. The phone would just be passed across from one to the other at the turnstile.

For the England v Montenegro match, tickets were sent individually to the members of the group. If one member of the group did not have a compatible phone, the instruction was to register for the app on his mate's phone, download the ticket on to his mate's phone, then transfer the ticket to his mate. This would leave his mate with 2 tickets and they could again go through the turnstile passing the phone across.

We don't know which method is going to be used for Euro 2020. In my opinion, the Nations League method was better and more user friendly.

One thing I've been made aware of is a lack of email from UEFA after a successful application has been made.

Or maybe there is a time lag at this busy time.

The FAQ suggest the submission of an initial application or change to an application should result in an email.

I'd welcome any feedback from others on this.

Hi David. I've searched for information pertaining to the option to cancel tickets for the round of 16 game, if needed, but wasn't able to find a response to my query. Essentially my question is this: If I was only able to attend a second round game if it were in Dublin or Glasgow, could I subsequently cancel my ticket if we find the game is being played in Copenhagen or elsewhere? Apologises if this info is elsewhere but I couldn't locate it. Thanks

Thomas, that wont be possible. All tickets bought through the FA are non refundable, so if you get a R16 ticket you dont want/cant use, youll be stuck with it.

Farcical situation for the semi & final really. Possibly having enough caps to safely apply for fans first and selecting flexible but not knowing if I need to apply for cat 2 with flexibility to move up to 1. Quite a difference in costs between the two routes. A breakdown of numbers would let people work out what is safe to apply for.
Not having a pop at our FA if they don’t have the details to give.

blogs: Graeme Le Saux: Youth or experience for second Miami test?

The game against Honduras tonight is the final chance for a player to stake their claim for that World Cup opener against Italy next Saturday, and warm-up matches are key - just look at Michael Owen at France 98. The build-up to this tournament and that one 16 years ago is similar in many ways because there was a lot of experience in that England squad that I played in, and Michael really burst onto the scene. It was...

blogs: David Stone: Marvellous Miami is just like I pictured it

I've been to the US a few times before, but Miami really lives up to every cultural stereotype you can think of. It's big, bright and brash, not to mention full of hordes of identically-dressed, beautiful people. I’ve been to watch the Miami Marlins, the city's baseball team, in a local derby against the Tampa Bay Rays. While the stadium itself was two-thirds empty, the dozen or so England fans there...
